Meyer’s Gazetteer for German Researchers

Meyer’s Gazetteer is an invaluable resource for German genealogy that allows you to see your ancestor’s hometown on a historic map and find the local churches, synagogues, and civil registries were located during the time of the German Empire (1871-1918). The place names and their jurisdictions, as found in this gazetteer have become the standard for German genealogy and allow records to be found in spite of the frequent boundary changes of the German-speaking lands throughout history.
