From Germany to the Colonies and on to Missouri

For our Fall Seminar, Luana Darby provides us with practical guidance for overcoming research challenges and tracing German and Missouri ancestry. The first section, Is This the End? Taking Your German Walls Down, teaches researchers how to think like a German to break through genealogical brick walls, using cultural context and a case study to illustrate effective strategies. The second, The Show Me State – Research in Missouri, explores Missouri’s unique historical role and genealogical resources, offering tips to uncover ancestors who passed through or settled in the state. The third, The Palatine Immigrants, focuses on locating 18th-century German immigrants to the American colonies, using online tools and migration patterns to trace their origins and connections.
