A 1931 record group created by Adolf Hitler’s government survives today as a collection of hundreds of thousands of pre-1800 family trees and Ahnentafels of German SS-soldiers and their prospective spouses, often filling gaps left by German civil and church records.

Dr. Michael D. Lacopo is a retired small-animal veterinarian born and raised in northern Indiana. He takes a scientific approach to his research as he does to his profession. Researching since 1980, he has lectured internationally and written for numerous periodicals and journals. Just a few of Michael’s interests and strengths include Mennonite research and German and Swiss research, especially as it pertains to the 18th century immigration to America. He devotes a considerable amount of time to European research, being proficient in reading German script. A self-described “all-American mutt,” his research skills cover a broad range.

He has been a frequent speaker many times at the National Genealogical Society Conferences, the Federation of Genealogical Society Conferences, RootsTech, Ohio Genealogical Society Conferences, Palatines to America Conferences and Southern California Genealogical Society’s Jamboree, SLIG/GRIP/IGHR class coordinator and/or guest lecturer, and many, many, more local and regional lectures.
