Biography

Carol Carman has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in classical archaeology and a master’s in library science from the University of Wales (Great Britain). She spent most of her career as the head cataloger and systems administrator for the library of the Maryland General Assembly (legislature). She is currently working part time for the Kunta Kinte Alex Haley Foundation, Inc.

She has taught genealogy classes at the Anne Arundel Community College and at the county senior centers and has attended many national, state, and local genealogy conferences. She is a past president of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, a former board member for the East Coast Genetic Genealogy Conference, and a vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society, a German genealogy society. She has done contract work for Legacy Tree Genealogists, Inc. and several private clients. She has lectured for several genealogy societies and conferences. Her personal research has taken her to many US states, England, and Germany.
