About:

The Niedersächsische Landesverein für Familienkunde e.V. – Lower Saxony Society of Family History – a registered non-profit society, was founded in 1913. Currently the society has some 600 members in Germany and abroad.

We offer our members a variety of support in researching their ancestors, focused primarily but not exclusively on the federal state of Lower Saxony. Genealogists having roots in neighboring regions are welcome to join us.

If you are interested in a membership please apply using the application form.

The society’s head office is located in the center of the city of Hanover. You are invited to visit our extensive library consisting of more than 10,000 books, other important sources and WiFi access. During opening hours you can meet with specialists who are able to help you on the spot.

Genealogical Society

Purpose:

NLF promotes research in genealogy and local history as well as the preservation of archival records. We collect research materials and research work in order to make them available to members.

We organize lectures, seminars and meetings, and study trips. We offer consultation hours and maintain a library.

We support and promote the publication of research work, develop genealogical and historical sources, and provide information and data sources on the Internet.

Membership:

You must complete a membership application.
Membership is reviewed and approved by the board. Membership is also dependent on written consent to the collection, storage, processing and use of personal data.
A full membership is 40 € per year. A limted membership is 20 € per year but does not include a newsletter subscription or access to special publications.
