About:

The task of the DAGV is, as an umbrella organization, to promote the content-related work and exchange between the member associations and to represent the interests of genealogists in the professional world and in the general public. The DAGV currently has 72 member associations, which in turn represent around 22,000 individual members.

Purpose:

  1. The association pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes within the meaning of the “Tax-privileged purposes” section of the tax code. The purpose of the association is to promote science and research.
  2. The association works selflessly; it does not primarily pursue its own economic purposes.
  3. The association operates nationally and primarily as an umbrella organization. It acts as a representative of the interests of its members in the state and society. But he can also take action directly himself.
  4. The purpose of the statutes is realized in particular by promoting the tasks and goals of its members in science and research in the genealogical and heraldic fields, including the neighboring scientific areas of sphragistics (seal studies), historical demography, migration research and onomastics (onomastics); by advising its members, provided they are non-profit organizations, setting up and maintaining central institutions and working groups, and through publications.
  5. The association regularly organizes the German Genealogists’ Day (DGT) for its members. The association can delegate its orientation and/or the associated organizational tasks to one or more of its full members.
  6. The association’s funds may only be used for statutory purposes. The members do not receive payments from the association. No person may be favored through expenses that are alien to the purpose of the association or through disproportionately high remuneration.

You can become full members of the DAGV

  • registered associations,
  • legal foundations,
  • legal associations of persons and public corporations,

which serve scientific purposes in the field of genealogy and/or heraldry.

Membership fee

Each full member pays an annual fee in the amount of the basic annual fee multiplied by the number of members paying fees at the beginning of their own financial year, at least one hundred times this basic annual fee.

From 2010: €0.40 basic fee per member, at least €40 per year up to 100 members.

Membership Benefits:

Due to their membership, member associations receive benefits from the cooperation agreement with the Association for Computer Genealogy. Currently these include:

  • two closed mailing lists for exchange within the association,
  • Member management via a database,
  • Computer Genealogy magazine (quarterly).
Every member club is also a member of the IGGP through the DAGV.

For each member club, a club showcase is set up on the DAGV website, which is intended to provide information about the club and contains an extract of its own home page ( see here ).

Member associations without their own website can draw attention to themselves and, if they wish, can also receive a page as a subdomain of the DAGV. Talk to the webmaster about it.
